The Owl Distillery in Belgium was founded in 1997 in Hesbaye, halfway between Namur and Liège. The first bottling from this distillery was released in 2008 under the name Belgian Owl. The Owl distillery has committed to a fair-trade agreement with 29 farmers from the Hesbaye region. The Scottish stills at the distillery were recovered from the now-closed Caperdonich distillery, and the bourbon casks come from Heaven Hill, the infamous distillery from Kentucky.
