The South Pacific distillery was founded in Lautoka on the main island and started producing alcohol in 1980, in particular to reduce their imports of other spirits. The decision to produce rum was a natural one, resulting from the abundance of sugar cane growing in the islands of Fiji, allowing for ample access to the molasses necessary in order to distill the rum.
