Maison Godet was founded in 1588 by Bonaventure Godet, a Dutch salt merchant operating in La Rochelle. Henry IV granted him the right to distil his own wine, resulting in the creation of what was then known as Dutch burnt wine, an ancestor of cognac. This led, two centuries later in 1782, to the creation of Godet Frère Cognac by Gédéon Louis Godet. The house is still family-owned today.
A single cask (#FB1124) of Godet Petite Champagne Cognac distilled in 1999, aged in oak casks from the Forest of Tronçais in a humid cellar and bottled in 2024.
