Cuvée presentation

Donated by Berry Bros. & Rudd

The whisky from this exceptional batch, bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd, stands out with its uniqueness and rarity, the product of over three decades of collaboration between the London merchant and original distillery. This cask has been carefully selected by-and-for Ronnie Cox, historical expert on Berry Bros. & Rudd, who has identified the finest characteristics of Speyside whiskies, considered as one of the best regions for the production of single malts.
The 1960s marked a turning point for single malts, a period where production was still carried out by craftsmen and had little influence from modern technology. Distillations of this period were unique, using traditional barley strains and brewing yeast which gave the whisky distinct character and a depth that is rarely seen today.
This whisky, aged in sherry casks, stands out for its incredible balance between the aromatic power of wood and the subtlety of dried fruits, spices and soft resins. The age of this cask testifies to a rare maturity, the product of decades of meticulous ageing. Its bouquet speaks of maturity and depth with intriguing aromas of lemon curd, linen and sweet resin, as well as its palate - a true example of elegance and harmony - which demonstrates complex flavours of spiced wood and nuts.
This lot is not just a whisky; it is a piece of history in liquid form, a reminder of the age-old distillation techniques that have shaped the Scottish whisky landscape. It is also a celebration of patience, expertise and excellence which have marked every stage of its development. With a long finish, marked by silky tannins and a delicate hint of bitter molasses, this whisky is the very definition of exceptional, offering a new discovery with each sip.
Finally, this bottle of Speyside 1969 is put up for auction with an exceptional tasting in the Berry Bros. & Rudd site, on 3 Saint James Street in London.
