Donated by la distillerie Warenghem

To celebrate the Brest International Maritime Festival in July 2024, the Warenghem distillery wanted to pay homage to its maritime heritage with the creation of a new collection of Breton whiskies, under the Armorik single malt range.
Designed in collaboration with artist Ewan Lebourdais, official painter for the Navy, this unique blended whisky is available in three illustrations to highlight three facets of the sea - maritime heritage, called “Lighthouses”; the merchant navy, with “I’m a pilot”; and the beauty of a French three-masted sailing ship, “Le Français”.
For this exclusive bottling, the cellar master, Erwan Lefebvre, used different types of sherry casks in order to obtain a balanced blend with a powerful aromatic stamp. A Breton single malt whisky which honours the strength and intensity of the maritime universe.
This lot offered at the Fine Spirit Auction 2024 comprises three variations of this exclusive edition signed by artist Ewan Lebourdais, as well as a large-scale copy of the piece “Le Français”.

The distillery Warenghem

The Warenghem distillery was founded in 1900 in Lannion by Léon Warenghem, originally to produce the plant liqueur Elix d’‘Armorique. In 1919, Henri Warenghem took over from his father and expanded the range to include other liqueurs. Gilles Leizour then took over the distillery in 1981 and focused production on regional spirits like chouchen. He was also responsible for distillation of France’‘s first whisky (a blend) in 1983 and its release in 1987 under the name WB (Whisky Breton). In 1993 he built a whisky distillery based on Scottish production methods. Its first single malt was released in 1998 under the name Armorik.
