Cuvée presentation

To celebrate the 20th edition of the Whisky Live Paris as well as the launch of the French edition of the Whisky Magazine in 2004, La Maison & Velier offers an exclusive collection of spirits from its cellars in magnum format. This wonderful series joins 40 unique and exciting bottlings of whiskies and rums selected from all four corners of the world, as well as a remarkable selection of French malts and spirits. Called the Fireworks Collection, this range is available for sale on the auction site Fine Spirits Auction (from 28/09/2024 to 04/10/2024). Each bottle, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, displays a unique label reinterpreting the famous fireworks illustrations created by the Japanese artist Hirayama in 1880.

Fettercairn began its operations in 1824. The local crystal-clear water is used as an ingredient in the production of whisky but is also used for cooling down the copper from the stills during distillation, allowing for increased condensation and reflux. This process allows for a finer and more delicate distillate, bursting with exotic fruits. This version, distilled in 1990 and aged in a hogshead cask, presents a saline and fruity profile.

The distillery FETTERCAIRN (Old)

Scotland, Eastern Highlands. Distillery operational. Owner: Whyte & Mackay Ltd.

Remaining until 1927 in the fold of the Gladstone family, a member of which was an eminent Prime Minister in the 19th century, Fettercairn was successively run by a plethora of investors with varied intentions, before eventually winding up in the pocket of the Distillers Company Ltd in 1953. 20 years later, in 1973, it finally found balance when it became the property of Whyte & Mackay Ltd. Its bottlings were then known under the two names Fettercairn and Old Fettercairn, both used interchangeably in the 1970s. The classic bottlings of the era include Fettercairn 875 (8 year old, 75 cl). In the early 2000s, its oldest versions were reserved for the Stillman's Dram range, which it formed alongside the group's other distilleries, Dalmore (1960), Tomintoul (1975), Bruichladdich (1993), Tullibardine (1994), Tamnavulin (1994) and Isle of Jura (1995).
