Cuvée presentation

To celebrate the 20th edition of the Whisky Live Paris as well as the launch of the French edition of the Whisky Magazine in 2004, La Maison & Velier offers an exclusive collection of spirits from its cellars in magnum format. This wonderful series joins 40 unique and exciting bottlings of whiskies and rums selected from all four corners of the world, as well as a remarkable selection of French malts and spirits. Called the Fireworks Collection, this range is available for sale on the auction site Fine Spirits Auction (from 28/09/2024 to 04/10/2024). Each bottle, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, displays a unique label reinterpreting the famous fireworks illustrations created by the Japanese artist Hirayama in 1880.

Distilled with lees, this lot 2.08 (2008 vintage not eligible for labelling) was exclusively made using Ugni Blanc grapes and aged in 400-litre coarse grain oak barrels from Limousin. This cask, which rests in a temperate cellar, has already released magnificent tannins and brought fine, refined aromas to this cognac. Fresh and fruity (grapes, mirabelle plum jam), it unveils an elegant and silky texture, with dominant notes of vine-blossoms, elderflower and dried grapefruit.

The distillery Jean Fillioux

Located in Juillac-le-Coq, Domaine de la Pouyade, birthplace of the house Jean Fillioux, was created in 1894. The vineyard spreads across a little over 25 hectares in Grande Champagne also known as the Golden Triangle. To produce this distillation-friendly wine, vines are planted on the clay-limestone soil with exposure to the sun on the upper slopes. Since its creation, the estate has seen five generations of ‘noses’, who have written history and continued the family heritage, producing great brandy (eaux-de-vie).
