Cuvée presentation

To celebrate the 20th edition of the Whisky Live Paris as well as the launch of the French edition of the Whisky Magazine in 2004, La Maison & Velier offers an exclusive collection of spirits from its cellars in magnum format. This wonderful series joins 40 unique and exciting bottlings of whiskies and rums selected from all four corners of the world, as well as a remarkable selection of French malts and spirits. Called the Fireworks Collection, this range is available for sale on the auction site Fine Spirits Auction (from 28/09/2024 to 04/10/2024). Each bottle, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, displays a unique label reinterpreting the famous fireworks illustrations created by the Japanese artist Hirayama in 1880.

Made from the Petite Champagne cru, this cognac was distilled the same year that La Maison du Whisky was founded, and has been aged in a semi-underground cellar for over 65 years in a 350 litre oak barrel. Created from Ugni Blanc grapes and with the help of indigenous yeasts, it was bottled brut de fût (at cask strength).
This lot 56 is an exceptional cognac. It is a testament to traditional knowledge handed down from generation to generation, and demonstrates unwavering strength of character and freshness of expression. It offers a rich aromatic palate blending spices, fennel and exotic fruits. On the palate, it reveals intense notes of candied licorice, cacao, plums and dried fruits with a hint of pepper which enhances the long finish.

The distillery Vallein Tercinier

Domaine des Forges was bought by Louis Vallein in 1791. In 1850, his grandson Georges Vallein set up a company for bottling and selling the estate’’s cognac. He was not only the estate’’s owner but also its distiller and bottler. As his son Paul never married, his nephew Louis Tercinier took over when he returned from WWI, developing the house’’s renown abroad. After WWII, he was joined by his son Robert. Business flourished and the company began exporting to new markets in the 1980s. Since the 1990s, grape-growing work and bottling activities have been shared between his children Louis and Catherine. Today the house produces a comprehensive range of cognacs, including many highly sought-after vintage editions.
