Cuvée presentation

For the release of its latest Armada—Neisson’’s unique range featuring vintages from the 1990s to the 2000s—artist Carole Aurore was commissioned to illustrate this unique Jeroboam containing the precious 2000 vintage. Produced primarily from blue sugar cane grown on the volcanic soil of Mount Pelée, this venerable cask strength bottling represents a new high point in subtropical ageing. For this Armada, only 210 litres were able to be drawn from a 600-litre cognac cask laid down in 2000. With impressive complexity, richness and depth, the palette of flavours and aromas is made up of intensely fruity and floral or nobly spicy and powdery sequences. The natural elegance makes time stand still. The universe of Martinique painter Carole Aurore is characterized by colourful compositions that combine sketches, symbols and graphics in a sensual and poetic style. Having already worked with Neisson on the design of its XO Full Proof editions and the releases marking the distillery’’s 90th anniversary, Aurore hand-painted this Jeroboam to create a setting worthy of such an expressive rum.

The distillery Neisson

The Neisson distillery was founded in Carbet by the Neisson brothers in 1932. Jean, who was a trained chemical engineer, was committed to improving distillation techniques, as was reflected by the installation of the distillery’s Savalle still, originally built in 1938 and modified by Jean himself. The estate remains in family hands and is today run by Claudine and her son Grégory. In 2013, the estate began gradually converting to organic farming, supported by research into different cane varieties, plots and agricultural techniques. Neisson is rightly considered one of Martinique’s most innovative and ambitious distilleries. Neisson rum is instantly recognizable by the signature Zepol’Karé bottle with square shoulders.
