Cuvée presentation

A historic cognac bottled by the wine merchant Eschenauer & Co. It is extremely rare to find bottlings of spirits distilled before the Phylloxera crisis that ravaged the vineyards of France in the late 19th century. The cognacs in this bottling were distilled in 1825 and made from grapes grown in the Grande Fine Champagne appellation (a blend of Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, with a minimum 50% premier cru).

The distillery Eschenauer & Co.

Eschenauer & Co. was founded in 1821 by Louis Eschenauer, a wine merchant based in Bordeaux. The company also sourced cognac, which it would age itself over several decades and bottle under its own name. The company unfortunately ran into difficulties during the Second World War, despite a very prosperous period in the 1870s. Eschenauer & Co.’s cognacs are always old bottlings as they are no longer produced today.
