This Plantation Australia rum is available in a 30-litre single cask matured on the Barge 166 floating warehouse created in Issy-les-Moulineaux by Maison Ferrand in 2011. Available in extremely limited quantities, this Plantation rum from Australia (Beenleight Artisan Distillers) was selected by Maison Ferrand’’s owner and master blender Alexandre Gabriel to continue its ageing on board the barge, where it has been maturing since 5 September 2023.
Maison Ferrand is offering the chance to follow the maturation of this exceptional cask with a visit to Barge 166 and a tasting of the rum, an opportunity to explore the aromatic subtleties afforded by ageing on Barge 166. After it has finished its maturation, the buyer will receive approximately 55 unique and personalized bottles (50 cl), the only created in honour of this Plantation Australia 2009 rum.

An artistic partnership with Dayoung Jeong
This lot will be accompanied by an artwork on a small 30-litre cask by artist Dayoung Jeong. Korean-born Dayoung Jeong moved to Paris in 2012 to continue the art studies she had begun in Seoul. She has taken part in several group exhibitions in Europe and Asia, and was invited to the Centre Culturel Coréen in Paris in 2015 for her first personal exhibition as part of the series “Spotlight on up-and-coming Korean artists” (Regard sur les artistes coréens prometteurs). She has also produced theatre sets and wall murals.
Her main focus is the border between the virtual world and reality. By transposing stories, gestures and images from the digital world into the real world (and vice versa), she transforms her physical and mental experiences into works of art.
The cask is a one-off piece from the artist. A unique artwork inspired by the world of Plantation and the Australian terroir.
The distillery Beenleigh
The Beenleigh distillery is famous for being Australia’’s oldest distillery. Its story began in 1884 when a boat transporting a magnificent copper still ran aground in Beenleigh, near a sugar cane estate on the banks of the Albert River in Queensland. Almost 140 years later, rum continues to be produced in the same location. The estate continues to use the same high-quality, local ingredients, including sugar cane from the family mill, rainwater collected via a dam, and premium yeast strains. These are then showcased with the help of the rum producers’’ ancestral and traditional expertise. After distillation, the spirits are aged in historic wooden vats previously used for brandy. Aged for two to fifteen years, the rums develop rich and round aromas of oak that have helped forge the business’’ strong reputation.
