Glen Elgin

Glen Elgin est une distillerie située à Fogwatt, dans le Speyside. Construite en 1898 par le banquiers William Simpson et James Carle, elle commence à produire en 1900, dans la foulée de la crise provoquée par les frères Pattison. Aussi est-elle fermée deux fois avant d'être vendue en 1906 à JJ Blanche & Co, un producteur de vin. Elle rejoint l'écurie de Distillers Company Limited (DCL) - vie leur filiale Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD) - qui en donne la licence à White Horse. Sans surprise, Glen Elgin occupe une place de choix dans le blend du même nom. On en trouve de rares versions officielles comme un 12 ans dans les années 1980, un autre sorti en 2001 dans la gamme Flora and Fauna ou un 16 ans The Manager's Dram mais Glen Elgin demeure l'apanage des assemblages et des négociants.
